It's that time of year again. Many Rhode Islander's are bringing out their tackle boxes and fishing poles as they prepare for the opening day of fishing.

Opening day kicks off at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning and in advance of the big day, the Department of Environmental Management has stocked Rhode Island's freshwater body's with over 80,000 trout. The brook, rainbow, and brown, trout stocked into Rhode Island lakes and ponds on average weigh about one and a half pounds.

Anyone looking to go fishing on opening day must obtain a Rhode Island fishing license. A Rhode Island resident can obtain a license for $18 or a combination hunting and fishing license for $33.
