NEW BEDFORD, MA- The District's Attorney's office is suspecting foul play after a man was found dead inside his burning home.

Around 8:30 this morning, a neighbor called police after seeing smoke. It wasn't until after the fire was put out that firefighters noticed a man's body under some debris.

Detectives spent a lot of time on the top floor of the home located at 55 Rounds street. That's where the man's body was found.

"I came out to my front porch and I peeked to the left and I saw that the fire engines were going to a house about two blocks down and there was smoke billowing out of the house," said neighbor, Peter Andrews.

Another neighbor, Antone Medeiros saw the smoke as well. He said, "They'd taken two dogs out later and I guess they didn't let anybody too close."

Two pit bulls were found alive inside a bathroom. They are ok.

Police know the identity of the man but are not releasing that at this time.
