A busy tax day

Posted: Updated:

Many people waited to the last minute to get their tax returns in this year.

At Liberty Tax in East Providence, the owner says Tuesday was the busiest day of the year. By 5 pm there 40 people had already come in.

"There are a lot of people who file early in January and February but there are a huge amount of people who file at the end in the last couple of days," said Paul Pilakas the Owner of Liberty Tax in East Providence.

The post office on Corliss street in Providence was open until 9 pm. Many people stopped by right up until close to make sure they could get their returns in on time.

If you live in Massachusetts you do have a few extra days to do your taxes.

The state has extended the tax deadline until midnight Friday because of a problem with its electronic filing system.

Federal taxes are still due by midnight on Tuesday.
