The raids on the home and State House office of former House Speaker Gordon Fox are still shrouded in mystery, but interesting clues are emerging.

ABC6 news confirming that investigators delivered a subpoena to Providence City Hall.

"At this point I can't really tell you very much other than to say that there was a subpoena issued and we will respond and cooperate fully with the subpoena as we have promised to do with any type of investigation overall," said Mayor Angel Taveras, (D) Providence.

But we do know that as a private attorney Gordon Fox did work for the P.E.D.C., the Providence Economic Development Partnership, closing federally funded loans.

Many of those loans later defaulted.

Reporter question: Can you even say which department the records were subpoenaed. Was it the PEDC or can you even....

"Unfortunately I cannot address that at this point in time. Certainly I am sure when the time is appropriate I will be able to say more. But we want to be very respectful of the subpoena," said Mayor Taveras.

ABC6 Chief Political Reporter Mark Curtis said, "Even though he resigned as Speaker, Gordon Fox remains the State Representative for District 4, at full pay and benefits, but hasn't been seen on Smith Hill since the investigation began.

We also confirmed this week, that investigators contacted the Rhode Island Board of Elections, inquiring about Fox's campaign finance records.

"That's all I can comment at this time," said Rick Thornton of the Board of Elections.

Clearly campaign finances and Fox's city income are now under scrutiny.
