A rollover crash in Westport has killed a 16-year-old girl and injured 3 others.

Westport Police say they responded to a single car accident in the area of 1634 Drift Road around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

They found that a 1997 Toyota Camry carrying four Westport High School students had veered off the road and crashed into a telephone pole, before flipping over and ejecting two unbuckled passengers in the back seat.

One of those passengers, the 16-year-old girl, died on scene, and the other was sent to Rhode Island Hospital where he received treatment.

Two front seat passengers, including the juvenile driver, were treated and released.

Westport Community Schools Superintendent Ann Dargon said the district's prayers and thoughts were with students and their families, and that counselors were available for all staff and students for anyone who needed support.

Officials are still investigating the accident and have not released further information.
