An urgent meeting was held on Friday by the New Bedford Educators Association.

The meeting comes after a rash of violence inside the high school. Two assaults on teachers have been highly publicized in recent months, back in March a student was expelled after throwing a chair at a teacher and earlier this week another student was expelled after throwing a metal trash can at a teacher.

The union meeting was held behind closed doors. The NBEA President says the consensus is that the superintendent is not doing enough.

“Ninety-nine percent of the people, almost 100% of the people felt that they were not supported by the superintendent and they feel they are not being treated as professionals,” said NBEA President, Louis St. John.

John says the issues will be discussed further during meetings with union members next week.
