State House Rally set to call for release of kidnapped Nigerian girls

Posted: Updated:

The Nigerian Community of Rhode Island is hosting a rally in front of the State House tonight starting at 5.

The purpose is to show support for the roughly 300 girls who were kidnapped by terrorists about three weeks ago.

Members of the local Nigerian community are worried about the terrorism and violence spreading to other parts of the country.

"They're helpless.  They don't have no where to turn to," said Deen I"Biymi, President Nigerian Community of RI.

"We have so many cousins that are over there and it hurts to see so many Facebook messages stating help us, you know this is going on, this is terrible and we need help," said Mary Gwann, Providence.

The rally will take place on the Providence Mall side of the State House.
