If you’re flying Southwest Airlines in the near future, you may catch Providence in the pages of your in-flight magazine.

The May issue of 'Spirit' features an eight-page spread on the cultural, culinary and historic attractions of the Capital City.

“I am proud to partner with the Providence-Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Rhode Island Airport Corporation in this effort to encourage a nationwide audience of travelers to come to Providence,” said Mayor Angel Taveras.

Martha Sheridan, President and CEO of the PWCVB, said, “We lobbied for this feature to be placed in the May issue, as that is when many people start making their summer travel plans. With many annual summer events, a thriving culinary scene and family-friendly attractions, Providence is emerging as a popular summer travel destination.”

The article illustrates Providence as “brimming with historic haunts, notable eateries, and esteemed art museums,” and features landmarks such as the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, The Dorrance, Pastiche, and historic Benefit Street.
