NEWPORT, RI- "It was pretty cool to have a New England Patriot you know, come to our shop, you know at the time anyways it was cool," said Scooter World owner, Thomas Welsby.

It was cool until he learned the former Patriot tight end was charged with killing Daniel De Abreu and Safiro Furtado in a drive–by shooting in Boston.

A photo with store employees, taken four days after that murder was taped behind the front counter; it now hangs on their wall of shame located in the bathroom.

Welsby adds, "One of the guys was Carlos Ortiz."

Hernandez and Ortiz are also facing charges in the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.

That day in Newport, Hernandez, Ortiz and two other men rented scooters jet skis, and then went to the dock where employees say they saw something strange.

"They were goofing around and like punched each other in the face and laughing and stuff," said Welsby.

The next day, Hernandez returned the scooters and told the owner he felt bad for losing the key and insisted on paying to replace it.

"The fact that he cared so much about this little key after what he had just done, that didn't seem to bother him, but this little key thing seemed to bother him, you know freaked me out. I think this guy is a like a sociopath."

I asked the store owner to take a look the contracts Hernandez and his friends signed he wouldn't do it because he wants to protect their personal information, including phone and credit card numbers.
