The Fall River Police Lieutenant arrested for domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Swansea has been released on home confinement.

56-year-old Eduardo Raposo of Swansea was arrested on May 14 after a violent incident. Police would not disclose any of the details regarding the victim out of concern for her safety. A day after his arrest Raposo retired from the Fall River Police Department.

Raposo was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery and carrying a firearm while intoxicated.

Fall River Police Chief Daniel Racine said he has suspended Raposo's license to carry and finds the incident disturbing.

A judge on Wednesday released Raposo on home confinement, and ordered he be fitted with a GPS device next week. He was also ordered to not drink alcohol.

In 2013 Raposo was arrested for driving under the influence while off duty.
