The fire that destroyed a bath house on Easton's Beach was a result of improper storage of combustible painting materials.

Fire officials say the fire started in the northeast corner of the second story of the building. They say spontaneous combustion started the fire.

Flames tore through part of a beach pavilion at Easton’s Beach in Newport Monday afternoon, causing an estimated $100,000 worth of damage.

The fire broke out around 3:00 in the afternoon, with smoke and flames shooting out of one end of the building.
