A Brigido’s employee has been arrested for allegedly embezzling over $40,000.

Rhode Island State Police say 48-year-old Maria Woods of West Greenwich unlawfully added overtime hours and vacation time pay, plus failed to deduct her health insurance co-pay premium, resulting in overpayment of $42,897.15 between 2008 and 2014.

Woods, who had been with Brigido’s for over 20 years, was in charge of store payroll records at the Brigido’s Fresh Market IGA in Scituate.

Woods was arraigned on the embezzlement charge and released on $10,000 personal recognizance.
