A Providence man is under arrest after allegedly breaking into a Pawtucket home and assaulting his ex-girlfriend and stabbing a man.

Around 11 p.m. on Thursday night police responded to West Avenue for reports of a stabbing. There they discovered a male victim who had been stabbed several times in the torso and the back. The unidentified victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

According to police the suspect, Richaud Willhelm, broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment where he used to reside and assaulted the woman and began to attack the male victim.

During the attack, police say the male was stabbed. Willhelm was arrested the next day when police found him walking down Lonsdale Avenue. When the officer approached Willhelm attempted to run away but was later found attempting to hide in a large recycling bin.

He will appear in court to face charges later today.
