A former Brown student who says she was raped by another student, has filed a federal complaint against the university.

Lena Sclove says she was sexually assaulted last August.

Brown administrators suspended the man she accused for one year.

This week on her behalf, the group "Legal Momentum" filed charges with the federal department of education under Title IX and the Clery Act against Brown University for its failure to expel the student.

Brown University spokeswoman Marisa Quinn released this statement:

“We have not been notified of a complaint, but recognize the seriousness of our obligations under the Clery Act and Title IX.  As was noted in President Paxson’s May 2 letter, our goal is to move Brown to a position of national leadership for prevention, advocacy, and response to issues of sexual assault.  The letter also notes that we are proceeding with several important new initiatives and more are forthcoming.
