Portsmouth bar owner pleads guilty to tax evasion

A Portsmouth bar owner is accused of not paying close to a million dollars in taxes.

Kenneth O’Brien is the owner of The Beach House.

He pleaded guilty in federal court in Providence today to three counts of tax evasion.

Police say the 47-year-old failed to report $929,095 in income and failed to pay $171,990 in taxes from his business over three years and pocketed the cash.

O’Brien faces up to five years in prison.
