Chafee nominates 2 to state elections board

(AP) _ Gov. Lincoln Chafee has nominated a former state senator and a retired judge to the state Board of Elections.           

The governor announced the nominations of former state Sen. Rhoda Perry and retired Judge Stephen Erickson on Thursday. He also re-nominated Board Vice Chairman William West, who has served since 2009.

Perry represented Providence as a Democrat from 1990 to 2012. She works for the city of Pawtucket as an English as a Second Language instructor.

Erickson was an associate judge for the Rhode Island District Court from 1990 to 2010 and a supervising judge for the Third Division District Court in Kent County from 1997 to 2001. He is an adjunct professor at Roger Williams University's law school.             

Chafee called Perry and Erickson proven leaders with a wealth of experience.
