A coach for the Boys’ Track team in North Attleboro made a startling discovery Monday morning.

He found a scoring mistake from a meet that happened over the weekend.

Coach Derek Herber’s team won the championship at that meet, but the final score was very close.  It turned out they were given the wrong score for the 110 Meter Hurdles and didn’t actually win the championship.

“I called by Athletic Director we called he state. They did the same thing they checked everything,” said Herber.

The adjusted score brought the team from first to third.

“I think it’s a great lesson we try to you know we wanna do the right thing.  It expands on he concept that athletics is a part of the classroom,” said Herber.

It’s a message that isn’t being lost on the students.

“It wouldn’t have felt right.  We are happy with the way things turned out,” said senior Ryan Croke.

“We’re just proud of how the team performed.  Third is still pretty great,” said senior Jacob McKinnon.
