Providence Mayor Angel Taveras plans on cleaning up Providence, literally.
Tuesday morning Taveras joined the city’s Graffiti Task Force and the Providence Chamber of Commerce in cleaning up graffiti at DASH bicycle shop.
Taveras said that graffiti is a quality of life issue for businesses and residents and stressed the cities commitment to prosecuting vandals.
Last year the General Assembly passed a law to strengthen penalties for graffiti making a third offense of tagging a felony charge.
Residents are urged to report graffiti to 1-800-TAGGERS or online at http://www.providenceri.com/PROVCONNEX. Rewards of up to $500 are offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of graffiti vandals.
