A South Kingstown man has been arrested and is charged with violating the social host statute after allegedly hosting an underage drinking party at his home over the weekend.

Police say the post prom party on Moonstone Beach Road came to an abrupt end just before 4 Saturday morning after someone called 911.

Authorities say an 18–year–old was taken to the hospital and treated and treated in relation to alcohol consumption. Police found several open containers of alcohol in the home.

Police say the driveway of his home where 22 teens were found was blocked with cars and keys were collected to prevent the partygoers from leaving.

"As far as kids underage drinking they do it with or without adults so I feel much more comfortable knowing that adults were there," said neighbor Hal Geller.

"I think they should be responsible parents and if the kids are under 21 they shouldn't be drinking period," said neighbor Joe Daniels.

Russo has been summonsed to court on June 12.

This is the third arrest ABC 6 News has learned about over the weekend for parents hosting an underage party.

Two Burrillville parents were arrested Saturday morning as well after police say about 60 teens attended an after prom party at their home.

Gabrielle Abbate, the executive director of MADD in Rhode Island says parents need to take a stand to prevent their teens from drinking.

"These parents that are doing this and promoting this and supporting it are putting everyone in harms way. It's not just their child, not just their home, everyone that leaves their home, their neighbors are in harms way, the police that respond," said Abbate.
