A 33-year-old Rhode Island man serving a 50-year sentence for raping a 16-year-old has been acquitted of charges he sexually assaulted another woman.

The Providence Journal reports ( ) a jury found Jason Nickerson not guilty on Monday of multiple charges including sexual assault and assault.

The woman had told police Nickerson tied her to a bed after an argument and forced her to have sex.

But she recanted that statement during the trial.

Nickerson is in prison for raping and beating a girl in 2007 after offering her a ride.

The case was unsolved until January 2011, when Nickerson was convicted of an unrelated felony and his DNA was linked to the rape.
