State troopers assigned to the Concord Barracks responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 495 southbound at the rest area in Chelmsford at approximately 12:50 a.m. today.

As a result of the crash, the vehicle's adult male operator, identified as Han Van Hoang, 43, and a 3-year-old female passenger, who was belted into a car seat, suffered fatal injuries.

Both victims were determined to be deceased on-scene.

Investigation indicates that their vehicle, a 2004 Toyota Camry, was traveling southbound on Route 495 in Chelmsford when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered to the right.

The vehicle then crossed over a raised island that separates the highway from the entrance to the Chelmsford rest area, continued through the grass and then impacted a metal guardrail.

The crash remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section.

The identities, ages, and hometown of the victims are not being released at this time awaiting the notification of family.

No further information is being released at this time.
