Massachusetts State Police announced that a “Sobriety Checkpoint” will be implemented on a public way in various counties.

The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen awareness to the need of detecting and removing motorists who drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

It will be operated during various hours and selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary.

Advance notice will be given to motorists to reduce fear and anxiety.

Worcester is the first county listed to implement the checkpoint, running Saturday June 14, 2014 into Sunday June 15, 2014.
