The cause of a large fire in a Providence triple-decker is arson.

The fire tore through the triple-decker on Dexter Street Monday evening around 5:15 p.m.

Crews showed up to find heavy flames in the vacant home and the fire quickly spread to a vacant house next door. Both buildings are believed to be a total loss.

No one was injured in the incident.

Recently, the Providence Fire Department has been investigating a string of arsons in the city, although this incident is deemed to be unrelated.
