Police are investigating after a man observing a construction project in Johnston was struck by a truck and dragged from more than 100 feet.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. this morning on Contillo Drive.

The truck, owned by AGI construction, backed into an onlooker, 81-year-old Anthony Caparco and dragged him before the driver became aware that the man was hit.

The victim was taken to the Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. OSHA and police continue to investigation the matter but they say operator error does not appear to be the cause.
