A Blackjack dealer who works at Twin River Casino was arrested Wednesday on 8 counts of Cheating in the Performance of Duty as a Dealer and 2 counts of Paying an Amount Greater than Required, after an investigation by the State Police.

State Police arrested Luis Pabon, 31, of North Providence, at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday during his shift at the casino.

An investigation started when State Police were informed by the Rhode Island Lottery about possible collusion between a Blackjack dealer and casino patrons.

It’s alleged that Pabon was dealing in the favor of the patrons at his table by "steering" cards as well as offering "insurance bets" when he knew the outcome of the dealer’s hand.

Pabon was monitored for the past three months leading up to his arrest.

He was arraigned and released on $10,000 personal recognizance. He is due pack in court in August.

If convicted he faces up to 10 years in prison or up to $100,000 fine, or both.
