North Smithfield Police have arrested two men charged with illegal possession of handguns and procuring alcohol for a minor, among other charges.

Moises A. Perez, 25, of Cranston, and Galo A. Tapia, 22, of Providence, were found parked outside of a Shell gas station on Great Road with a 16-year-old female, also from Providence.

As a result of the investigation, Tapia was charged with possession of a stolen handgun, license or permit required for carrying a handgun, carrying a weapon while intoxicated, receiving stolen goods, procuring alcohol for a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Perez was charged with possession of a weapon other than a firearm, procuring alcohol for a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The men were held in custody until the afternoon and arraigned at 3rd District Court in Kent County.

The juvenile female was turned over to her parents and was not charged.
