Massachusetts State Police announced that a “Sobriety Checkpoint” will be implemented on a public way in Plymouth and Suffolk Counties, June 20th to the 21st, and in Essex County the 21st to the 22nd.

The purpose is to further educate the public and strengthen awareness about motorists who drive under the influence, such as being able to detect them so that they can be removed from the roadways.

It will be operated during varied hours and the selection of vehicles stopped will not be arbitrary.

Motorists will be given advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety.
