It was an unforgettable night for the family of Team USA soccer player Geoff Cameron. ABC 6 News spent the night with the Attleboro native’s family and friends as they hosted a viewing party to watch the team’s first game in the World Cup tournament.

"Unbelievable, it was a great comeback, great win, fun game everything that we wanted it to be,” said Geoff Cameron’s father, Scott Cameron moments after Team USA won the game.

It was Cameron's first world cup game. His parents say it's been a dream of his since he was a small child.

"You know you tell them that they can do whatever want, go for the gusto as far as dreams go, but when it happens it is just an amazing feeling," said Cameron’s mother, Diane Cameron.

Cameron got his start locally playing youth soccer in Attleboro. He later went on to play at Providence Country Day School and then URI.

"He was very self driven, had a great work ethic, just a great kid to teach,” said Diane Cameron.

At Monday's viewing party guests were decked out wearing Cameron's gear with American Flags and red, white and blue in just about every corner of the home.

"It really is amazing,” said Steve Hagopian, the father of Cameron’s girlfriend. “He has put in so much hard work to get to this point and it really is like one in a million.”

The game was a nail biter, coming down to the last several minutes.

"I couldn't breath for the last eight minutes,” said Lindsey Hagopian, Cameron’s girlfriend.

"I don't think a dad could be more proud, pretty exciting,” said Scott Cameron.

A little fun fact, Geoff and his dad have a bet going about the World Cup games he plays in. If Geoff scores a goal in the tournament, his dad will get his first tattoo.

Team USA's next game is against Portugal on Sunday.
