EAST GREENWICH
, R.I.
– East Greenwich Police detectives, with the assistance of Newport Police and Rhode Island Department of Taxation, executed a search warrant Wednesday afternoon at East Greenwich Farm.

Police arrested the owner, 40-year-old Rakeshkumar R. Patel, of Warwick, and accused him of selling synthetic marijuana; a Schedule I classified sold substance.

Police have been conducting an investigation over several months, based on tips they were receiving from customers. During the investigation, Patel sold the substance to undercover police officers from Newport.

During the search, police seized $54,807 in cash.

Police charged Patel with one count of delivery of a sold substance; he is scheduled to be arraigned in court June 19.
