PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Legislation to hike the minimum wage, eliminate the ``master lever'' and make calamari Rhode Island's official state appetizer were among hundreds of measures being considered by the General Assembly in its final days.

Both chambers were considering scores of bills Thursday. The House alone had a calendar with 184 items.

The House approved bills to raise the minimum wage to $9 an hour; establish a framework to prepare for the effects of climate change; and bestow an official title on the state's distinctive squid dish.

The Senate voted to eliminate the option on ballots that allows voters to cast a straight-ticket vote with a single mark.

Both chambers approved ``just cause'' bills that provide protections for tenants in foreclosed properties.

The adjournment target is no later than Friday.
