All of a sudden the field is getting crowded in Rhode Island’s First Congressional District.

Today in Central Falls, republican Stan Tran kicked off his campaign for Congress.

Tran is a third year medical student at Brown University.

Tran, 26, is running on a platform opposed to Obamacare.

“I think my background separates me. I was a teacher and now I'm a medical student,” says Tran. “I'm doing this because I see problems in the healthcare system that I can't fix as a physician.”

Tran will face Cormack Lynch in the republican primary.

Matt Fectau and incumbent David Cicilline will face off for the democratic nomination.
