The driver in a deadly crash in North Providence has been charged.

North Providence Police say 21-year-old Dan Gautreau, Jr., of Providence, was arrested at his home Thursday night. He was charged with driving to endanger death resulting, driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury, DUI death resulting, DUI resulting in serious bodily injury, and reckless driving. 

Gautreau was released on $10,000 surety bail. He will appear in Kent County court next week.

Police say Gautreau's car was driving east on Mineral Spring Avenue early Thursday morning when it struck a pole. The rear passenger, 21-year-old Dominic Guziejka from Pawtucket, was killed, and the front passenger was sent to Rhode Island Hospital and is listed in fair condition.
