PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Rhode Island's General Assembly continued its push toward 2014 adjournment, but House and Senate leaders are still negotiating details on multiple bills and decided to reconvene one final day.

Lawmakers had hoped to end the six-month session Thursday but are now scheduled to meet Friday.

Speaker Nicholas Mattiello says negotiations are continuing with Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed, including on legislation related to putting table games at Newport Grand.

He identified as still in play bills to limit the number of evaluations for some teachers and to suspend use of the NECAP standardized test as a high school graduation requirement.

Mattiello expressed doubt that action would be taken on a pending bill to restore ethics commission oversight over lawmakers. Good-government groups have criticized the current version as being watered down.
