An active investigation is underway in Mansfield where an Amtrak train collided with a vehicle on the tracks early Monday morning.

Mansfield Police say that three people inside the vehicle were pronounced dead. Originally it was believed that two had died.

The train was bound for Boston, and full of passengers when it derailed. All passengers were uninjured.

Officials are calling this an active crime scene.

The collision happened just before midnight in the area of Otis and Gilbert Streets in Mansfield. There were 180 people on board the Amtrak train from D.C. bound for Boston.

Amtrak has canceled some services Monday morning, and the MBTA will be running but delays are expected as crews work to remove the train and repair the tracks.
