Today, members of the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arraigned a man on child pornography charges.

70-year-old Martin Micheo of Providence was arraigned for possession of child pornography.

Previously, on October 3rd, 2012, Micheo pled nolo contendere to a charge of Production of Child Pornography and was sentenced to a full sentence of six years at the Adult Correctional Institute with one year to serve in home confinement and five years suspended with probation.

In May of 2014, RI Probation and Parole, assisted by the United States Marshal’s SOLEMN Task Force, conducted a probation compliance check at Micheo’s residence.

Officers observed internet activity indicative of child pornography before his laptop was seized and turned over to the Crimes Unit. A forensic examination of the laptop revealed images of child pornography.

Task Forces responded to Micheo’s home with an arrest warrant on May 23rd, where it was found he fled the state to live with family in Connecticut.

He was arraigned as a fugitive from Rhode Island in Waterbury Superior Court in Connecticut and waived extradition proceedings.

At his arraignment his afternoon, his bail was set at $25,000 with surety with special conditions of no internet use and no contact with children.
