Man convicted for role in bank robbery

A federal jury has convicted a Rhode Island man of conspiracy to commit bank robbery and bank robbery for his role as a getaway driver during the July 2013 armed robbery of the Bank of America Barrington branch.  

Thirty-three-year-old David Lasseque of Providence was convicted of one count each of conspiracy to commit bank robbery and bank robbery Tuesday.

A co-defendant, 34-year-old Pierre S. Rheau of Providence, pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to commit armed bank robbery and armed bank robbery.

Lasseque will be sentenced Sept. 26 in U.S. District Court. He faces up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000.

Rheau will be sentenced Sept. 12. He faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000.
