The RISPCA has reported that animal shelters across the state are losing around $700,000 every year because dog are not registered in their communities.

Rhode Island state law requires all dogs over the age of four months be vaccinated and licensed in local cities.

But of the rough population of 120,317 dogs in Rhode Island, around 97,000 are not registered.

Fines for violating this law can range from $25 up to $200.

A license costs on average $7.63 and can be obtained at your local city hall.
