Car catches fire in Providence Place Mall

Shoppers were told to evacuate the Providence Place Mall when a yellow 2004 Chevrolet Corvette in the parking garage caught fire.

It happened just before 9 PM at a garage toll-booth near the exit.

The Providence Fire Department used foam to put out the flames, claiming the Corvette was made out of fiber glass plastic--something that is not easily extinguished.

The two female occupants of the car escaped without injury, and were considered "very lucky" by Providence Firefighters.

The cause is still under investigation and the cause does not seem to be suspicious.
