FAIRHAVEN, MA- Neighbors on Washington Street in Fairhaven heard a woman screaming Monday morning. Police say she and her husband had just been stabbed by their 27–year–old son, Peter Bergeron.

The mother ran to the school district building for help.

Fairhaven Police Sergeant, Kevin Kobza said "I can just tell you that she was suffering from a knife wound to the neck. She was bleeding, she was stable, she was conscious-she was alert."

An employee then ran to the police station located right across the street.

Marie Burt lives nearby. She said "She had a–looked like a light cloth or a bandage or towel or something. They put her on a on a gurney also–a different one–and took her to the hospital."

The father was found inside the family's home with multiple knife wounds.

"We found numerous blood trails throughout the house. A lot of blood smeared on the wall where it appeared somebody had tried to brace themselves, support themselves," said Kobza.

"This is pretty close to home. I mean, that happened what 200–feet from here and this is a very quiet neighborhood," said neighbor, Stanley Burt.

Police quickly found the son inside the home. He was taken to the St. Luke's Hospital in handcuffs.

His parents were also rushed to the hospital. They are all expected to recover from their injuries.

Bergeron is charged with assault with intent to murder and several other charges. He's being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

Police say this is the first time they've been to the family's home for a disturbance.
