The Department of Environmental Management (DEM) has announced that 12 Genesis bows have been stolen after a break-in earlier this month and may be up for sale on Craigslist.

The DEM’s Division of Law Enforcement advise that anyone that may have purchased a bow on Craigslist this month may have unknowingly purchased one of theirs.

The stolen bows are valued at about $180 each and may have been sold by a West Warwick seller on the website. So far two bows have been recovered.

The equipment is used by DEM’s Division of Fish & Wildlife for teaching purposes.

The bows that have not yet been recovered are eight Genesis compound bows that measure 35.5 inches from axle to axle and weigh 3.5 lbs each. Five of these are right-handed orange bows and three are left-handed and lime green. The remaining two are mini-bows, one right-handed red bow, and one left-handed blue.

The stolen bows have been reported to the National Crime Information Center so that the identification numbers of the bows can be traced.

DEM is asking anyone who may have purchased one of these bows to contact the Division of Law Enforcement at 222-3070.

No one will be prosecuted for purchasing the stolen bows.
