A Woonsocket mother is facing charges after neighbors saw her beating and dragging a 10-year-old boy down a sidewalk.

Police say 26-year-old Aisha Walters was walking down First Avenue on Saturday night when she allegedly got into an argument with the 10-year-old boy she was walking with.

Neighbors say Walters started yelling and then punching the boy in his stomach and legs, dragging him down the sidewalk by his arms, legs, and ears.

The boy suffered cuts and scrapes similar to a road rash, and had red marks on his neck. He was picked up by his grandfather, and DCYF was contacted.

A group of about 30 neighbors who witnessed the attack intervened.

Walters is charged with child abuse in the second degree and disorderly conduct. She is being held at the ACI. Walters was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
