A Rhode Island man has been charged in an incident at a Planet Fitness last week.

Seekonk police have charged Mark McVay, 55, of Bristol with secretly filming people and attempting to commit a crime.

McVay accidentally recorded himself setting up a camera in a women's locker room of the Planet Fitness on Taunton Ave.

He tells ABC6 News it was just a misunderstanding.

"It was a prank gone bad.  It was not intended to be recording anything it was just a prank.  It'll all come out in the wash," said Mark McVay.

Police are still investigating because they believe this may not be an isolated incident.

A criminal complaint was filed against McVay and he was not arrested because the two charges are misdemeanors.  Members of the gym say they are relieved police found McVay.

"Definitely happy to hear they caught the guy and they are gonna charge him cause it's creepy," said member Ashley Vincelette.

"It definitely creep and I am glad they caught the cut," said member Sara Goes.

No arraignment date has been set.
