The Charles W. Morgan will be in New Bedford for a little longer!

Mystic Seaport announced that it will delay the departure of the 1841 Whaleship until Tuesday, July 8th because of inclement weather conditions.

The ship was scheduled to sail Monday from New Bedford to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in the Cape Cod Canal for the next stop in its journey.

“The forecast for sustained winds and gusts and sea conditions for Buzzards Bay exceeds our level of comfort for operating the ship,” said Dana Hewson, vice president for Watercraft Preservation and Operations at Mystic Seaport.

Now the ship will be leaving Tuesday morning for the Canal, where it will then set sail for Provincetown, Mass., arriving on Wednesday, July 9th.
