UPDATE: School worker dead, hazmat team investigating

Plymouth County Police and Fire Departments have announced that a man was found dead in Manomet Elementary School in Plymouth.

This morning around 8:15 AM, police responded to the school after a report of an unresponsive male.

Upon arriving, officers located the subject, identified as Chester Flattery, 53, a school custodian and Plymouth resident.

State Police Detectives were notified and responded to the scene. Three firefighters, three police officers, two State Troopers, two paramedics, and one school employee were transported to a local hospital for evaluation with symptoms of possible chemical exposure.

The building was evacuated as a result and the State Hazardous Materials Team was notified.

The building remains closed at the Hazardous Materials Team investigates to identify the chemical agent.

There will be an autopsy performed to determine Flattery’s cause of death.

The incident remains under investigation.
