Aaron Hernandez will be transferred to a Boston jail today following a hearing in Fall River Superior Court Wednesday. The former New England Patriot, who has pleaded not guilty to three murder charges, asked to be moved so he could be closer to his lawyers. A judge granted that request earlier this week.

He will be moved to one of two jails- either the Suffolk County Jail or the South Bay House of Corrections. Both facilities house maximum and minimum security inmates.

Prior to the move the ex-star tight end is set to go before a judge. The hearing is expected to focus on Hernandez’s request for a court subpoena to have his former football team turn over medical records and psychological tests. The defense says the records could help show his state of mind with the organization before he was arrested for the 2013 murder of Odin Llyod.

Aaron Hernandez has been at the Bristol County House of Corrections in North Dartmouth for over a year.

The jailhouse transfer will likely only be temporary. A judge has said Hernandez would likely be moved back to Bristol County when he goes on trial. That could happen as early as October.
