PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Five people have been wounded during overnight shootings in the Chad Brown neighborhood in Providence.

Police say three women and two men were shot shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday at a birthday party.

Police Maj. David Lapatin tells The Providence Journal (http://bit.ly/1kEFjBw ) that 27-year-old Gabriel Burgos, of Providence, was the most seriously hurt. He was shot in the back and was being treated at Rhode Island Hospital.

Three other victims are from Providence. The fourth, 39-year-old Efrain Jusino, is from Boston's Dorchester neighborhood. They all had injuries that are not life-threatening.

Investigators say more than one gun was used and that five vehicles were also shot. They don't yet know a motive or know whether certain people were targeted or whether the suspects just fired randomly.

No arrests have been made.
