A Woonsocket man has died following a one-car crash in Lincoln.

State Police say 21-year-old Simon Ratsamy of Woonsocket was in the passenger seat of a car driving down Route 99 around 9:25 Wednesday night when it veered to the right off of the road and struck a rock ledge, rolled over, and landed on its roof.

Ratsamy suffered fatal injuries and died at the hospital.

"I don't know.  It will be so empty because my son is not here with me anymore," said his mom Chitpasong Ratsamy.

She says her son just graduated from CCRI and wanted to be a firefighter.

"He wanted to save people," said Ratsamy.

Friends and family were remembering Simon throughout the day.  Some left flowers by his car, others lit candles and signed a car hood in his honor outside a liquor story he worked at in Woonsocket.

"Very humble guy, you could tell him anything he was chill about whatever it was," said friend Shawn Riendeau.

The driver, 22-year-old Aarron Harmon of Bellingham, is in critical condition.

State Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash but say speed may have been a factor.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the State Police Lincoln Woods barracks at (401) 444-1100.
