A Pawtucket 12–year-old, who is being recognized at the White House for his cooking later this month, got a key to his home city today.

Kinnan Dowie is the Rhode Island state champion for the National Healthy Lunchtime Challenge.

It is a nationwide challenge to promote kids eating healthy.

Dowie won with his original recipe of "Mediterranean Kebab Wraps with Cilantro Tabbouleh."

He credits his mom and grandma for all of his cooking talents.

“My grandmother's side of the family is Middle Eastern and I've grown up with that kind of cooking all my life. It's tasty, it's healthy and I really just like cooking it,” says budding chef Kinnan Dowie.

Dowie's winning recipe was among 54 representing all of the United States.

He'll be honored at a luncheon hosted by Michelle Obama on July 18th.

Dowie also got a mayoral citation from the mayor.
