Providence Police are investigating after several shots were fired in the city early Friday morning.

Police were called to Georgia Avenue around 1 a.m. for a report of shots fired. There they met with a witness who said they observed a subject fleeing in a black Sedan.

At that point it was discovered that more shots had been fired on Georgia Avenue.

Several vehicles were shot including one with two individuals inside. One of the individuals suffered from non-life threatening injuries on her leg and went to the hospital for treatment. It is unclear if the woman was hurt by the gunfire or injured from the broken glass.

Twenty-seven bullet shell casings were located on Carolina Avenue and another five were found on Georgia Avenue.
