PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The former leader of Rhode Island's economic development agency has withdrawn a complaint against lawyers who represented the agency in the 38 Studios deal.

Keith Stokes says Friday he realized the complaint would be a distraction to the main suit and that he has limited resources. He and then-deputy Michael Saul filed the original complaint just last week.

The suit alleges that lawyers provided Stokes and Saul poor legal advice that they relied on as the former Economic Development Corp. approved the loan guarantee.

Saul remains a plaintiff.

Ex-Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling's company went bankrupt in 2012. The EDC is suing him and others.

One of the firms named in the suit brought by Stokes and Saul agreed last month to settle with the EDC for $4.4 million
